La Posta has become one of the most celebrated restaurants in Panama City, breaking records and rewarding its owners for their unpretentious style combined with consistent service and excellent food. The owners extensive experience combined with the talent of their young chef, has created a place where the classics of international cuisine can be enjoyed in an atmosphere of relaxed elegance. It all comes together creating a resonance consistent with the coastal setting in Panama, the beautiful city on the bay.
La Posta is located near Calle Uruguay, which runs perpendicular to the Bay of Panama in the neoclassical neighborhood of Bella Vista, which boasts the most vibrant nightlife in the city. This entire area has a long list of bars and restaurants offering something for every taste and budget. At the very center of this area is La Posta, located on Calle 49 in an old house that was carefully restored to recreate the aesthetic style of a time in which the tropics and elegance walked hand in hand. An evening at La Posta is like being transported back to the golden age in Cuba of the 40’s and the 50’s.
The name is perfect for a setting like this. Historically “The Post” was the place where travelers stopped to rest, to feed themselves and their horses restore their strength and then continue their journey. In English the word is “post” in French “relay”. Today, La Posta, the restaurant, is synonymous with the provision of good food and renewal of the spirit and it does both with sophistication and style.
Manolo Caracol – Casco Viejo

This is a wonderful restaurant located in the old section of Panama City called Casco Viejo. This is the kind of dining experience I just love. You sit down and order what you want to drink and they just start bringing you wonderful food, course after course after course! The portions are relatively small and run the gamut from fish to fowl to delicious vegetable concoctions.
I’ve never kept track, but there must be at least a dozen courses. The price ($17) is the same for every meal. Lunch and dinner is the same experience. This is one of my several favorite restaurants in a city full of outstanding choices. The restaurants in the top 20 choices are all very good.
Some though are truly wonderful, this is one in that strata!
Madame Chang’s Haute Chinese

The best of Panama City restaurants include Madame Chang’s. It is true Chinese haute cuisine. If you are a Chinese food lover – you will love Madame Chang’s!
Coming from Vancouver, BC, Canada, and in fact, Richmond, BC, Canada, lovingly known as Hong Couver as 70% of the population is Asian, this is a very important question. I love Chinese food and I have been privileged to enjoy some of the very finest Chinese food available anywhere in the world. This is not something I could give up.
Even more important, with my love for all things spicy I had to have something that exploded with flavor.
Thank heavens for Madame Chang’s wonderful Szsechuan Chinese restaurant. Yes there truly is a Madame Chang. Until you have had her special Corvina, you really have not indulged fully in what is available by way of a taste sensation. Crispy on the outside but warm and wonderful on the inside the flavor truly explodes in your mouth. No, it is not too spicy, just delicious. Mmmm I want to go back again soon!
But the menu is not just about seafood and it is certainly not a one dish wonder. Go back several times and try all the wonderful dishes that await you. Let me know which is you r personal favorite.
